Hedgeriders -Villagelands.

Hedgeriders is a five-piece Suffolk-based folk-pop-acoustic band. They began as a duo with Lyn Gameson (strings, vocals) and Elizabeth Swift (pipes, vocals) blending their musical talents. In 2024, the band expanded, welcoming Alison Candy (lead vocals), Ruth Catlow (violin), and Jood Smart (double bass). This group has performed at open mics across the region, and they were delighted to be named joint second in the Chorus Cup competition at the Blaxhall Ship Inn — an iconic venue in Suffolk's folk music history.

All five members met through Cornish Pilot Gig rowing, forging bonds on the rivers of Woodbridge and Felixstowe and out on the North Sea. That shared connection to water runs through many of their songs — the rhythm of the oars, the pull of tides, and the spirit of those who have journeyed together before. Their EP, Villagelands, delves into themes of friendship, heartbreak, betrayal, and belonging, while also reflecting a deep connection to the landscapes, lives, and histories of East Anglia.

The New EP ‘Villagelands’ will be released on March 1st.

Lyn writes the songs, with arrangements crafted collaboratively by the band. Audiences can expect evocative storytelling, instrumental and vocal harmonies, and a warm, dynamic presence.

Villagelands was released on March 1st,  marking an exciting new chapter for Hedgeriders. With a busy summer ahead in 2025, they are looking forward to bringing their music to wider audiences.
